Divison 1 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament
Each Division in lacrosse holds an NCAA Tournament to compete for the Title. Teams are chosen to attend the tournament by there regular season records. The first NCAA lacrosse Division 1 Tournament was held in 1971 at Hofstra College in New York. Cornell defeated Maryland 12-6 and it started a new tradition. Syracuse college in New York has led the amount of titles won with 10 titles. They are looked at as the best team in division 1 lacrosse history. In a span of 39 years only 8 different teams have won the title. This year, the unseeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish made it all the way to the finals upsetting so many teams. They suffered a heart breaking loss to Duke in over time off of a face-off. The NCAA lacrosse tournament is one of the most watched events in all of America.

Basic Rules of Game
Lacrosse is a full contact sport but, like all sports, there are rules. Each player must have lacrosse gloves, elbow pads, shoulder pads, a helmet and a stick that meets the standards of the NCAA. If a player commits a penalty, any form of unsportsmanlike-like conduct, they must go into the penalty box for a time period of thirty seconds to two minutes. If there is a penalty the team plays man down until the player's penalty gets resolved. If the ball is thrown to another player and he misses it the ball is given to the other team. If the ball is shot and it misses the cage, the player closest to the ball before it goes out team's gets the ball. there is no shot clock in lacrosse so as long as the team keeps the ball in a box around part of the field, they can move the ball around the whole game.
Objective of Game
The objective of lacrosse is to score goals and beat the team you are playing. The game starts with the ball at midfield placed on the ground. One midfielder from each team is facing the ball both on opposite sides. When the whistle is blown they fight for the ball using their body and sticks. This is called a face-off. The midfielder moves the ball around to the other players and the defensive payers try to stop them from scoring. In the college level there are 4 quarters of playing time each quarter consists of 15 minutes. Whichever team has the most goals by the end of the game wins.
History of Lacrosse
Lacrosse was invented hundreds of years ago by the Native Americans. The game was played between tribes with hundreds of players on the field at a time. The field went on for miles and people would get seriously injured and/or die. A single game could last two days and they used fishing nets and the ball was made of all different natural material. In 1637 a group of French men in Canada developed the game into an organized game.

Lacrosse101
Hi, My name is Chris and I have played lacrosse since I was 7 years old. I played on town teams to travel teams with kids my age and older than me. I have played all of the positions from attack to goalie and right now i currently play defense. Lacrosse was mainly played in the Northeast part of America mainly in New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey etc. Lacrosse is new one of the most popular sports in our country and is played all over the country and is still rising. Many names come up when you think lacrosse including Mike Powell, Paul Rabil, Kyle Harrison, Matt Danowski, and MANY others. Each team has 10 players on the field consisting of a goalie, 3 midfielders, 3 defensemen, and 3 atackmen. Midfielders are who control the flow of the game, they have to run up and down the field and score but they also must play defense. defensemen have a lacrosse stick that is double the size of a regular stick and they guard the attackmen, or play midfield. The attackmen are usually quick and score most of the goals. Lacrosse is played on all different levels ranging from 5 year olds to professionals. You can get drafted by a college team and you would be in the NCAA mens Lacrosse league. After college it is possible to get drafted by a major league team. Since lacrosse is still rising up, the pay is not great, so most people have jobs, or they get sponsored by a lacrosse company.
